Quranic Exegesis
The Method of Reflection on the Qur'an
Reflection is not a passing reading; it is a conscious pause before the verse that draws out its meanings and ties them to life.
God commands reflection upon His Book: "Do they not reflect on the Qur'an, or are there locks upon their hearts?" Reflection stands above recitation and even exegesis, for it joins understanding the words with being moved by their meaning and turning it into conduct.
We therefore advise students to read a whole chapter first to grasp its overall context, then pause at its vocabulary, and finally ask: what does this verse want from me today? With that question the Qur'an turns from a text that is read into a light that is lived.
